Clara describes the human voice as a portal, a centre that allows travel, healing and magic to take place. Expressing her voice has always given her a framework that allows her to conjure up the wild imagination, giving her the permission to be a performing artist and a shaman in the same instant. “Motherlyght” was born from this fusion. Weaving the sound frequencies from voice and instruments to create an altered state, Clara allows herself to find the edge of where performer and audience dissolve, slipping into the “non-performance” state of the present moment. She believes the present moment is the only place that is truly alive. Whether in front of a rising sun, a night sky full of stars or a stage, it’s the connection to the alive energy of the created space that she craves, the interaction between all the elements seen and unseen. That’s the role of Motherlyght as the performing artist, to have her finger on the pulse enough to allow magic to happen.

As a facilitator of sound healing Clara explores the idea of translating ‘that which is not heard’  and is curious about sound’s role as both transmuter and translator of matter. She believes the body is a carrier of songs, and has the ancestral weavings of stories passed down in the cells, crystallising into patterns, form and behaviours. Healing happens when theses stories are given a voice and are heard, often releasing trapped energy , emotion and tension. Clara also "sounds" the stories present in landscape, and the natural environment. Her interest in the juncture between sound, science and ecology has led her to experiment with planetary frequencies, and sounds found in nature to evoke a deepened connection to the cosmos and our place in it. Curiosity with understanding the role of sound in healing has led her to study various sound modalities in Australia and overseas including Biofield Tuning Fork Therapy, Gong therapy and Acutonics. In 2018 she graduated with a degree in Contemporary Music Practices and Honours in Arts and Design (UC) researching sound healing and its application. She believes sound is a powerful medicine and shares it at festivals, community settings, yoga retreats and wherever the frequencies lead her.
